Here is a place where you get transported to the wonderful world of Yaoi and Hentai. The Yaoi Movie Archive brings you a collection of animated movies that range from soft core to hardcore, but it also allows you to access two other bonus sites with your membership: Hentai Niches and Hentai Video World. It's all about animation and cartoons here and there is the added promise of daily updates.

What Yaoi Movie Archive does is sort its collection of movies into four categories ranging from very soft to very hard. It has a good stock of movies and some of these are episodic, with storyline building episode by episode. You don't need to worry about the langue that the characters speak as there are subtitles or dubbing and all movies can be downloaded or streamed without any trouble. It's a decent collection, though there are a couple of things missing as you'll find out when you read on.

Once you've signed in you will come straight to the main welcome page; there's a quick hello and a simple menu at the top and further down are some up-sell adverts for some straight porn sites. Everything is very simple here; you have your choice of Very Hard down to Very Soft full length movies and another section where the 'hot scenes' taken from those movies are kept - so you can skip straight to the hardcore if you don't want to mess about.

As you explore the various areas in the members' area you find that the top menu stays with you making it easy to navigate back to home or on to the other parts of the site. There are really only five parts to it though so you're not going to get lost. Each movie is presented with good sized sample images and a short description, you are told the file size and the run time, the title, there are genre tags and a rating system so you can cast your vote. Those genre tags are links to an automatic search so if, for example, you see 'romance' and click it the page will change to bring you all scenes that contain 'romance,' simple but effective. There isn't actually a search box but you will see these tags clearly marked and remember that some movies here have up to 13 episodes or scenes.

The technical side of things is under control here; the buffering on the streams was fast, downloads happened without any trouble and the searching happened very quickly. However, I did feel that there could have been more information about who makes these movies, when they were made, who does the voice-overs and so on, and there was no update list. The design is what you'd expect from a Yaoi/Hentai site with bright banners and, thanks to the fact that there are not too many places to wander about in, navigation is nice and simple.

This is really a place for true lovers of the art of Yaoi as well as a place for folk who like a bit of titillation. The scenes and the episodes they contain tell stories, but these are not all about sex. There were six movies n the Very Hard category and some of these, to be frank, were a worry. I know these are cartoons but some of the boys depicted in them were, well, boys. For this reason (I guess) the private parts are fuzzed out. Other movies show you older teens and adults and the sex depicted in them is full on hardcore - but built into a story to make the whole thing entertaining as well as horny. The Hard section contained 13 movies; some with sex, some with fetish content and some with violence, but all in the same style of artwork, and some had up to 13 episodes - with these episodes running for half and hour or so you get plenty of viewing time here. In the Soft category list there were 14 adventures, many set in or around schools, some fantasies, some dramas, some comedies… it's all a neat mix. And the same goes for the collection of 17 Very Soft movies and their episodes; plenty of variety.

You don't need to worry about the language here; some of the movies have been dubbed while others have subtitles. The visual quality is good as is the sound quality and I have to say I was very surprised at the speed of the buffering on the Flash streams; very impressive. The download speed was also fairly quick and files were a manageable size and came down as .avi format smoothly.

Apart from a ratings system and the search tags there are no other interactive features here - some more information about the movies, studios, voices etc. would be good to see. But you do have two bonus sites which you access from your 'main' page. Hentai Niches contains loads of extras animated content on a mainly straight, lesbian, tranny theme - there's no category for gay but it does promise daily updates. Hentai Video World also has a huge stock with a good update schedule and a 'what's coming soon' list - again this looks to be straight content, but good quality and easy to access. So, for true lovers of all Hentai and Yaoi, Yaoi Movie archive is definitely a place to come as you get a great bonus package and it's all in the same Hentai niche.

• Not a great deal of hardcore;
• Only one choice of resolution and download format;

You have to bear in mind that the emphasis here is on the art of movie making rather than the sex, though there are some hardcore and many erotic scenes depicting (mainly) younger - or very young - guys. There is a good number of movies and some have many parts to them at Yaoi Movie Archive so there's your value for money, and you get a good package of extras in the two bonus sites as long as you're up for straight Hentai.

Can't find much to fault here. The tour probably makes you think you're getting more sex than you do but there's enough to get me off.

There are some cool movies here, Samurai Fantasy is horny and fun. The movies are really quick to play, it's like switching on your TV.

I didn't sign up just for the extras but it would be good to have gay bonuses.
