Clearly the main idea behind The Classic Porn is to bring you blasts from the past. But there’s slightly more to it than that as the site seems to find everything from the past, and there is a lot of it. It is already offering you 1,850 films to watch, and a whole heap of images to see. In fact there are over 2,300 hours’ worth of sex to be viewed, as long as you can take the 1980’s hair styles, and the fashions of the 1970’s. You must be prepared to step back in time when you log in here, but does that mean you've got to accept low quality too? We shall have to keep an eye on that as we wander around the members’ area.

So, here we are, the members’ area: it all looks neatly set out with stats and news about the site at the top of the page (just as you see on the tour). Beneath this is a main menu leading me to the films, the stars, the forum and more, and beneath this are samples of the recent updates. In a right column there is a members' poll running, there is a search box, and there are tag words to act as a category filter, links to your favourites and watched films, coming soon news and top lists. In fact this left column has all the fun and interactive options you will need to fully enjoy the site, and it is great to see.

The DVD/Films link in the top menu brings a drop down so you can go straight to new, top rated and coming soon movies, and this kind of helpful linking seems typical of the site. I found it all very easy to navigate and search, sort and use. Actually choosing a title was more difficult but only because there were so many of them. But when I did settle on a DVD/film to watch I found very handy viewing pages. You are told the director, the stars and the tags, and all of these things are linked; you can rate and comment on what you see, add to favourites, share on your social networking sites and even add your own reviews of scenes. This really is a fully interactive members’ area.

Similarly the model index divides into men and women, if you want it to. When you are browsing you get stats and links to each star’s most commonly teamed up with other star, yet another neat function. And then the detail you find with each name is pretty incredible with long biographies, filmographies, rates, comments, views, links, it’s all there in one of the most comprehensive model indexes around.

So, very impressed with the members' area generally I checked out the content and found I was pretty impressed with that too. The chances are if you've got a favourite porn flick from the past then you are going to find it here. Similarly if you have a favourite star then she will be in here. There are, interestingly, some top names still working today showing up here, but I am thinking of guys who are now directing, like Joey Silvera for example.

But our main concern is for quality. Do these movies stand up to today’s standards in terms of quality? Well, I found Flash streams and downloads at around 400k, at 576 x 432, a size and speed which is kind of middle of the road, and that is so it suits just about all internet connections. Yes, the quality isn’t wonderful, especially at full screen on many of the scenes, but you are going to have to expect that. This is because these movies were filmed on film (remember that?) or on video perhaps, and they have been transferred now to a digital format so they can be streamed online. Some quality is going to ‘drop off’ in the transfer.

But in terms of classics, you've got them all. You've got all kinds of genres too, all kinds of outfits and girls, younger and older ladies, guys with horrible moustaches, by today’s standards, and electrifying 1980’s hair styles to boot.

But the bottom line is that you have a great collection of non-excusive, previously released porn movies that you would otherwise have to buy in the shops. If you could still get it. From duos to groups, from anal to swallowing, you are going to find some explosive blast from the past presented in as good a quality fashion as is possible. There is a lot of it and that’s just on this one site.

You then have three other retro porn collections to view and these are linked in your top menu, so they are easy to access. He banner up there also says that two more bonus sites are coming soon. You do have to pass through an advert page to get to each bonus site and I guess it is possible that there is some shared content between them, you’d have to check. But these are really great extra value items.

Pros:

• You are faced with an advert page each time you go to a bonus site or log in;
• Not all movies come with full details.

I’m giving a big thumbs-up to The Classic Porn for a couple of reasons. Mainly because it is preserving our porn heritage and giving us a new film every day. Also because it goes into great detail about the movies and stars it knows about, and also because it gives us a lot of content, interactive options, and a site that’s pretty easy to navigate. I would like to see more viewing options with a choice of streams or downloads, and it would be good to have scenes broken down into clips, or am I being too fussy? Overall though, when you want to look back at classic porn, this is the site to come to. Add on the three similar bonus sites and you are looking at a perfect package of retro viewing.

Incredible movies here, those we’d forgotten about, those we thought lost, many that we’ve never seen before. I love it. It is a neat collection and one that you will never tire of. How could you with Brigitte Lahaie and John Holmes top of the model list? This really is a good, solid collection and one that is great fun to discover, scene by scene.

My problem with it is the actual viewing of the movies, which is the most important thing really. The streams are ok as long as you've got a half way decent connection, but the downloads are a bit thin on the ground and not easy to find at first. Some files may be pretty big as you only get to download the full film of one and a half hours, or whatever, and the scenes are not there individually for you to take.

Can’t knock it; a big collection of old porn movies that are not only fun to see again but which remain horny after all these years. Ok, so you have to look past the big hair that we took for granted back then, and the visuals are sometimes a bit rough around the edges, but you've got history in the making here. And it is great value too with all the extras and the bonus sites. But please get rid of that annoying advert page!
