Some sites go for a very specific niche. They want to target a narrow audience but serve them in an excellent way so those people don’t ever want to leave. Those sites are useful for those among you that have very narrow tastes or are looking for something in particular but there’s a place in the world of porn for sites that go wider and try to provide a little something for everything. I’ve always thought those sites are best for people that have just started getting into porn and have yet to discover what arouses them more than anything. Box of Smut is a site like that. They want to offer you a little taste of everything from anal to teen to lesbian and then they throw in a bunch of bonus content on top of that. It looks like an attractive package.

One of the things they say about Box of Smut is that if you can’t find what you want inside then it doesn’t exist. The idea is that they have everything a porn browser could possibly want and while that’s probably not the case they’re making the pitch that they give you so much content you couldn’t possibly get bored of what you have access to. The big pitch on the tour is that the site is free to join, which would be interesting if it were actually true.

Of course it’s not actually true that you get to join for free. What you get is a 2 day membership that’s free of charge. However, you will be billed $40 if you don’t cancel that membership after the time has expired. They make you give your credit card upon joining and they also sign you up for two other sites that will rebill at $40/month if you don’t uncheck the boxes on the join page. Make sure you consider these things when you go to sign up. If you don’t want to spend $120 after 2 days you need to uncheck those boxes.

The content categories are listed at the top of the page and clicking on one brings you to the collection of content. The design is basically crap. When you visit a category they have a bunch of images listed. It’s not clear if those images link to picture galleries or videos until you actually click on them. Not all the categories have pictures but they do all have videos. There isn’t much content in any of the categories, sadly, and there are no updates.

The image sets generally have 100+ images at 1000-1200px and they look good, although none of the content is exclusive so it’s not exactly mind blowing stuff. You could probably find most of this on another site. The videos are almost all streaming only and they play in this tiny little Windows Media Player that pops up in a new window. They look decent if you run them full screen but I’m not sure why you’d pay $40/month to see streaming only movies that are non-exclusive. The small collection of downloadable videos look good but they’re hardly outstanding.

They have the content at Box of Smut divided into eight categories: teen, milf, interracial, hardcore, anal, blowjob, lesbian and amateur. The amateur section doesn’t count though. All the links are broken and lead to a pay site that you have no plans on joining (trust me, it sucks). The teen and hardcore sections are the only ones that offer downloadable scenes and together they have 40 fresh scenes. That would be $1 per downloadable scene if you happened to let the membership lapse past the two day trial period (which I would not recommend).

The content is not very good. Normally I try to point out how certain sites have good things about them but this site really doesn’t. It’s exceptionally hard to recommend that you pay $40/month for something when you aren’t going to get a whole heck of a lot out of it. I find the movies are plenty attractive and arousing enough but it’s a question of comparison. There are hundreds of sites online that are better than Box of Smut and they almost all charge you less money. You can’t get a 2 day trial for free but who the hell cares?

You’ve got roughly 300 movies to check out inside Box of Smut. Most of those movies are of average quality and clearly the notion that if you can’t find it inside then it doesn’t exist is just insane. Clearly they don’t have a big collection of content. They don’t have a big box of porn that you can find everything you need inside. It’s also disappointing that they try and pass off a bunch of leased feeds as real content. They’re as bad as porn gets; low resolution, streaming only and totally average.

Pros:

• Almost all videos are streaming only;
• Content is non-exclusive and average;
• Membership recurs at $40/month;
• If you don’t uncheck the boxes they sign you up for two other expensive memberships;
• No updates;
• Not the big variety of content they were offering.

Box of Smut is not a good site. They do offer that free trial membership and if you’re keen on seeing what’s inside it’s totally risk-free. You just have to remember that if you don’t like what you got when you signed up then you just have to cancel your membership before two days have passed. Also be sure to uncheck the boxes that automatically sign you up for other memberships. They have content in seven categories inside but there’s so little of it and almost all of it is streaming that the site is not anywhere near the $40/month they charge you when it rebills. I can’t make an argument for joining, unfortunately.

This is a breathtakingly terrible site. I can’t believe it’s even online, let alone charging an exorbitant fee. I can’t believe they actually market it as free because it’s not free. You get two days free but two days of crappy streaming videos and a few downloadable clips does nothing for me.

The thing that’s most galling about Box of Smut is that you can find better quality full length porn movies on dozens of free sites online that don’t require you to give your credit card. I don’t need to give out those 16 numbers to watch some ugly milf get fucked by an ugly and misogynistic dude.

I signed up for the free trial membership just to see what the site was like.
